Travel Scholar: Dr. Simon Lai
“Thanks to the generous support of Vision Research Foundation, I had the opportunity to attend and present at the Australian and New Zealand Glaucoma Society (ANZGS) Meeting 2026. I presented my research project, “Does Timing Matter? Early versus Late Bleb Needling After Trabeculectomy”. I received valuable feedback after the presentation, which provided helpful insight for the ongoing development of the project.
In addition to my own presentation, I attended a wide variety of talks centred around glaucoma, ranging from patient care to the applications of AI in the field. Learning from other researchers and clinicians deepened my understanding of the field and encouraged me to reflect on my own project in the context of the wider research and clinical landscape.
Overall, this experience was broadened my perspective on the field and provided valuable insight into both clinical practice and research. The opportunity to receive direct feedback and learn from experts in the field as furthered my interest in Ophthalmology. I am incredibly grateful for the support provided by the travel grant which made this experience possible.“
