2025 Travel Scholarship Recipient

Vision Research Foundation is excited to announce our 2025 Travel Scholarship has been awarded to Andrew Holmes. 

Andrew is a 4th year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery student at the University of Auckland. He has recently earned a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) after completing a research year in bioinformatics and neuro-ophthalmology. His research focused on the use of artificial intelligence and large population databases to predict the risk of glaucoma.

At the end of this month Andrew will be using his scholarship to attend the RANZCO (Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists) NZ Branch Annual Scientific Meeting in Rotorua, where he will be presenting the results of his Honours thesis, Machine/deep learning to develop interpretable risk prediction models for glaucoma, supervised and co-authored by Dr William Schierding and Prof Helen Danesh-Meyer.
